GTM planning and exceution

As I was among the first recruits at bKash Limited so I had the opportunity to understand the product and the market from the very core level. As a result I was always involved in planning the launch of new services and as a key employee I was also entrusted with the execution of those plans. To mention precisely, I was involved in the launching of the company itself followed by launching of services like ATM withdrawal, International Remittance, Mobile Phone Top-up and other major campaigns during different national festivals.  

Market research

Like all successful business bKash also conducted a nationwide market research before launching the service. The research sample consisted of 3000 potential customers and 500 potential agents. The aim of the research was to identify the demand, acceptable service charge, existing alternatives and for agents their expectations and motivations for engaging in a mobile financial service business. This was of course the most important project and from marketing department we four members actively participated in developing questionnaire through collaboration with foreign consultants, selecting agency, developing guidelines and expectations, field visit and interpreting and finally presenting the report to management.

First bKash website

The first corporate website of bKash was published in 2011. I was among the two members from marketing department who developed texts, basic video tutorials and gathered vetting of contents from concerned persons including the CEO of bKash Ltd. I also worked as a interface between bKash marketing department and the website developing and hosting vendor for regular updates on the site.

Complete user manual

Though I was fully involved in developing most type of the user manuals at bKash Ltd. but developing the first complete user manual was an excellent experience. We, two members from marketing department took the responsibility for developing texts and designs, gathering vetting from technology, sales and legal departments. And since I was also managing the procurement tasks so I eventually got it printed and then handed-over to sales department for distribution in market.  

Rural activation

As the aim of bKash Ltd. is to promote financial inclusion which can only be possible by making the financial services accessible to rural mass. Hence we organized 2000 drama shows to promote bKash with a simple and easy to understand message across Bangladesh. Initially I was assisting in this project but due to change in responsibilities I was assigned to manage over 700 drama shows through coordination with the vendor and regional sales staffs of bKash Ltd.   

Outdoor branding

Though outdoor branding was not my core responsibilities but due to sudden resignation of the responsible staff I managed outdoor branding of bKash Ltd. directly for over three months and also assisted the new recruit till my tenure at the company. During the period of my direct supervision I managed two massive projects of changing the designs of all the billboards across country. The same projects also included branding of ATM booths across country for promoting ATM cash withdrawal service of bKash and also advertising on TVs installed on over 40 ships which carry huge number of passengers during festivals in Bangladesh.  

Youth engagement program

Engaging youth with the brand was and still is one of the highest priorities of bKash Ltd. During my tenure as a part of this program I directly managed different events such as participating in job fairs, arranging seminars, running registration campaign at universities through coordination with other colleagues from marketing and sales departments and third party vendors.  

Training of Trainers (ToT)

As bKash was a completely new concept in Bangladesh back in 2011 so we had to make sure the agents and other channel members get properly trained so that they can provide excellent service from their ends. To ensure this we arranged ToT sessions involving 20 professional trainers and from marketing department I was responsible for training, delivering the contents and guidelines during the ToT sessions.   

Developing channel members' kits

bKash channel members include distributors, sub-distributors, re-balancing agents and agents. All these channel members are provided with a kit which includes manual, general instructions and other necessary tools. And from marketing department I was responsible for developing the manuals for each of these channel members.

Academic projects

Consulting project for Voitto Media Agency

This consulting project was aimed at presenting some strategies to Voitto Media Agency to compete in the changing media industry trend. The agency defined the problem as "clients are becoming self-sufficient and at the same time new players and also players from other industry are competing for the same clients".

 

Under this circumstance we were asked to structurally forecast the future, identify opportunities and threats and accordingly propose alternative strategies to compete successfully in this changing industry environment. 

 

Internationaliz-ation plan for Suomen Rengastehdas Oy

Suomen Rengastehdas Oy is a growing bicycle tire company from Finland with a strong history behind. Currently the company is exporting to nearby countries and occasionally to USA and Japan based on random orders. In this project the company wanted us to develop an internationalization plan suggesting appropriate international markets and at the same time increase the brand awareness.

 

Based on the project aim we suggested two international markets with proper entry modes and also developed a robust marketing plan to establish brand awareness in a cost effective way.
